PCDR First to Respond to Drought-Affected Communities in Panay

In May 2024, PCDR, along with its local partner organizations, distributed rice assistance to over 900 farmer and fisherfolk families affected by El Niño in 12 municipalities across Iloilo, Capiz, and Aklan provinces.

According to the beneficiaries, they had not yet received aid from the government, and PCDR was the first to respond to their needs. “Since El Niño started, we have only received help from [PCDR],” said a farmer beneficiary from Dumarao, Capiz. “Thank you very much for extending your assistance; this is a big help,” said a farmer beneficiary from Tangalan, Aklan.

This project was supported by the Citizens’ Disaster Response Center and CARE Philippines through the Humanitarian Partnership Platform.
